Why work 'Anywhere', not 'remote'.
Words matter
Language defines futures.
Working ‘remotely’ has never been an accurate term for flexible ‘out-of-office’ work. As flexible working becomes a mainstream movement, it’s vital we determine the right language now.
If not remote then what?
Remote is synonymous with distance, isolation, and loneliness. That might be OK for a ‘digital nomad’ working from a tropical beach, but it isn’t right for working as part of a connected, distributed team.
So let’s make the distinction, and let’s make it clear. Keep your ‘remote’ work for the beach. For everyone else, let’s embrace working ‘Anywhere’.
What Anywhere means.
Anywhere is the freedom to boldly go... well, Anywhere; untethered from geographic constraints and free to think outside the cubicle. Anywhere means the freedom to collaborate alongside a team, whether they're based around the corner or around the world.
Capitalise Anywhere Make everywhere a destination.
We capitalise proper nouns like places: see London, Sydney, Timbuktu. In recognition that Anywhere is a proper place to work in a digital age, let's capitalise this new frontier.
Drop black and white Embrace the shades between.
For most companies, the most productive way of working lies between remote and office-based work. Great work can and does happen at an office, in a local cafe and even on a remote island. Anywhere encapsulates this reality.
Reframe the conversation Define the future.
Let’s reframe the conversation and, in the process, work towards a brighter, fairer and more flexible future for everyone. A future when we can go Anywhere.
Work from home, your
office or Anywhere.
Chat, collaborate, learn from each other, schedule, and
manage client communication. Anywhere.
